Ok, so here's some news. January 7th, 2011 at 6:15am I will be taking a flight that will eventually land me in Accra, Ghana. (That's in West Africa) I'll be there through June 3rd doing a semester abroad. I'll be attending the University of Cape Coast in Cape Coast, Ghana. I'll be taking 2 classes, I think, which I'll get credit at EWU for. I'll have the pleasure . .. or misery . .. of hitting both the wet and dry seasons there, starting with the dry season and turning into the wet season in April, I think. I'm sure I'll be fairly uncomfortable in both but I'm also sure I'll adapt and hopefully survive. :)
I've been working on this for about a year now. Well, the study abroad anyway. I've been dreaming of Africa for years and to see this coming to fruition . . . takes my breath away, causes some mild feelings of panic and terror just to balance out the excitement. Can't have one without the others I guess. :) I'm sure those things will ease once I get some things taken care of feel a little more ready for my life to change forever.
I will be quitting at Barnes & Noble since they don't do leaves of absence for anything other than medical. Not surprising, I suppose, but irritating. But when I talked to my manager he was supportive, though he hated to lose me before Christmas, and that I'd probly have a job when I got back. Hmm. Well, I was only hoping for the leave of absence just to have a safety net when I get back but who knows? Maybe this will give me an opportunity to get out and find something else. I'll worry about that when the time comes, I guess. I'm planning on my last day there as Dec. 15.
I'll still be paying my bills here while I'm gone so Michael doesn't rent out my room to any passing Gypsies or anything. :) I'm hoping that he still doesn't do that. Lol!
I'll be done with this quarter about the middle of next week so on the off chance someone wants to try and hang out before then, I'm gonna have to be a bit of a recluse till I'm done with this paper and 2 finals I've got to finish. Don't hate me too much. Don't worry, I'll have time to hang out after that and I'd love to see as many of you as possible before I leave! I'm gonna need all the face time I can get.
More info to come, this is just a starter. Feel free to ask any questions you have. I'm happy to get back to you when I can.
Ciao!
