Just a (short) Note for Today

elusive tomorrows
never arrive
and used up yesterdays
are forever gone
yet we are always
grasping endlessly
at one or the other
while today
once again
tick tock
tick tocks
quietly
away

Just a Note on a beautiful Saturday afternoon - Milestones

I was sitting at my desk at work the other day day-dreaming about I don't remember what but I started writing up a timeline of my life, starting with high school graduation and including the major moments of significance and milestones as I saw them. This is what I ended up with:

Manito Park, Spokane, WA.

1999 ~
* High school graduation from Wilbur High School;
* Moved to Spokane that Fall;
* Started college at SFCC.

2002 ~
* Took my first overseas trip to England to visit my sister and family for 2 weeks.

2003 ~
Market lady, Tarakan, Indonesia.
* Moved to 414 W. Mansfield Ave. in Spokane;
* Took my second overseas trip to Malaysia & Indonesia for a photo internship of sorts and to visit my family there, 2 months;
* Graduated SFCC with my AAS in photography.

2004
* Visited England for the second time, with a first trip to Belfast, for 1 1/2 months hoping to be able to relocate there with a friend. That didn't work out.
* Started working at Barnes & Noble Booksellers.

Island of Murano,Venice, Italy.

2008 ~
* Visited Florence & Venice, Italy, for the first time, 2 weeks. Loved it!
* Flew to Alaska and rode back with family moving back to WA state.

2009 ~
* Started at EWU studying Anthropology.

Mom & Dad.

2010 ~
* Dad goes home to be with God, free at last.

Proof. It DOES exist!

2011 ~
* The dream of visiting Africa came true in the form of a semester abroad, 5 months, in Cape Coast, Ghana.
* First and possibly only trip to Timbuktu, Mali. Phenomenal!!
Mosque in Timbuktu, Mali.

2012 ~
* Graduated EWU with a BA in anthropology, SFCC with an AA.

2013 ~
* Moved to Yakima to live with Mom to see if she could put up with me (so far she's tolerating me really well!);
* Helped found the human trafficking awareness group, Mercy Project of Washington (eMPOWer);
* Started working for the City of Yakima in the utilities department.

2014 ~
* First human trafficking awareness walk put on by Mercy Project.
Hidden garden steps, San Francisco, CA.
* Visited dear friends near Atlanta, GA, another first time to a place.

2015 ~
* Second human trafficking awareness walk put on by Mercy Project;
* First trip to San Francisco. All sunshine with no fog;
* Started grad school at Kilns College in Bend, OR, working on my MA in social justice and biblical studies.
Fellow Kilns students.

2016 ~
* Third human trafficking awareness walk put on by Mercy Project; Mercy Project was subsequently disbanded through decisions to do so by the other group members.
* Bought my dream car, red Mini Cooper S; sold the first car I bought myself.
* Will be taking my first trip to New Orleans in 54 days.

Observation: my milestones and highlights almost always center around travel and education, with family playing a significant role. These aren't all the highlights but the major ones as far as I can remember with my hole-y memory. Jenn, feel free to remind of any I may have missed.

If you dare, what does your timeline look like? Yes, this is a challenge to you!
